Torture Prevention Ambassadors meet in Geneva 

Torture Prevention Ambassadors (TPA) selected from Asia Pacific national human rights institutions met in Geneva, Switzerland from 20 to 22 June 2016 and summed up the activities they undertook between 2014 and 2016. From Mongolia NHRI, Commissioner Oyunhcimeg Purev and Agar-Erdene Gankhuyag, Head of Policy analysis and human rights education division were selected as TPAs in Mongolia. They participated in this event and the UN Human Rights Council

Over the past 18 months, the Torture Prevention Ambassadors have implemented a wide range of projects in Australia, the Maldives, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea and Timor Leste.

Their projects sought to respond to "protection gaps" and other risk factors that can lead to torture and ill-treatment in places of detention.
