Chief Commissioner Mr. Byambadorj Jamsran along with his Secretariat staff have hosted a meeting with Her Excellency Ambassador Ms. Anna Lindsted on 18 April 2018 at the Commission.
During the meeting, Ambassador Anna Lindsted has expressed her concerns that the President of Mongolia has raised an issue of reinstating death penalty in Mongolia. She conveyed her hope that the death penalty will not be reinstated in Mongolia again. The Chief Commissioner also expressed his concerns about the issue and agreed with her. The Chief Commissioner has concisely introduced her about mandates and functions of the Commission in protecting and promoting human rights and freedoms in Mongolia, including its close cooperation with civil society organizations, joint and independent studies, analysis and inquiries that are undertaken by the Commission and civil society.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief Commissioner has briefly informed Her Excellency Ambassador Ms. Anna Lindsted that most of the recommendations provided by the Sweden to the Mongolian Government during the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council have been implemented so far.
