Advancing the human rights education of health practitioners in Mongolia

Advancing the human rights education of health practitioners in MongoliaThe National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, with financial support of European Union, has been implementing a project titled "Advancing the human rights education of health practitioners in Mongolia”. Within this project framework, the Commission has been organizing human rights training and promotional activities aimed at supporting health practitioners in ensuring accessibility, availability, acceptability and quality of health services, forming a human rights-based approach in implementation of health policy and programmes and advancing the enjoyment of labour rights of health practitioners as well as the right to health of people, which are guaranteed in the Constitution of Mongolia and international human rights instruments.

The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia is now authorized to conduct a short-term, a credit hour human rights training for health practitioners with the following topics, which are accredited by the Center for Health Development, on 2nd March 2018: "Human rights-based approach and public service”, "The right to health”, "Labour rights”, "Rights of specific groups”, "The rights of people with disabilities”, and "Transparency of information and the right to information”. One of the main project activities is to conduct a face-to-face human rights training for health practitioners working in public, private hospitals and family health centers in Ulaanbaatar as well as in regional provinces. More specifically, the Commission has conducted a human rights training on "Right to health and human rights” for health practitioners in Zavkhan and Govi-Altai provinces in April. On May 15, the Commission has also conducted this training for health practitioners working in Health Center of Bayanzurkh District, Ulaanbaatar. Before launching a face-to-face training, the Commission has developed a training manual and a brochure on human rights and health care, and has distributed them to the target groups during the training.

Moreover, the Commission has been undertaking an analysis on ethical and irresponsibility issues of health practitioners, complaints and comments on human rights violations committed by health practitioners based on the information received from National Police Agency, Ethics Review Committee of Health Professionals of the Ministry of Health and General Agency for Specialized Inspection.
