As Universal Declaration for Human Rights was adopted on 10 December 1948, this historic day has since been celebrated as “Human rights day” throughout the world. Human rights organizations celebrate the Human rights day by carrying out wide scale promotional activities under a slogan made by the United Nations’ Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights every year.
This year’s slogan for the Human rights day is “My voice counts” which reminds ensuring public voice in the social life is prerequisite to shape full democracy and to develop an effective structure of human rights protection.
At this crucial time of economic challenges unprecedented in the history of humanity every person endeavours to take part in decision making which could affect the course of future of one’s country, and this is inevitably relevant to us.
The less the individuals’ participation in public life, the more human rights abuses they face. Moreover, this results in excessiveness of power of the state, and its decisions only serve for a few people. Thus, from now on you have an advantage of ensuring your participation and delivering your voice to all.
The state, a business entity, a non-government organization, or any other stake holder must try to ensure individuals’ participation in every way.
Noting individuals’ participation is crucial in ensuring effective implementation of every person’s rights, we urge you to take part in our efforts to deliver human rights and freedoms to all people everytime and every part of the country.
