Ms. Margaret Currie, a citizen of New Zealand and the Executive Director of “Prison Fellowship Mongolia” NGO, has been awarded “Human rights” honour badge of the NHRCM for her 20 year long commitment to and substantive outcome in protecting human rights.  Commissioner Oyunchimeg Purev handed her the award on 16 May 2014.

National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, Mongolian Confederation of Trade Unions, and Friedrich Ebert Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany jointly organized “Right to labour” training in Sainshand, Dornogovi province on 5 and 6 May 2014.

Chief Commissioner Byambadorj Jamsran received Ms. Mary Shuttleworth, president of the “Youth for Human Rights” International NGO on 2 May 2014 at the NHRCM and exchanged views on mutual cooperation.

At the invitation of the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia delegates of the Board of the Governors of the Asian Forum of the Rights of the Child namely Dr. Akito Kita, Chairman of the Board of Governors and director of the Research Institute of the Convention of the Rights of the Child, Mr. Shigeto Aramaki, Secretary General of the Asian Forum of the Rights of the Child, and Ms. Toko Uchida, professor of the Toyo University, visited Mongolia from 29 April to 1 May 2014 and review the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Mongolia.

NHRCM team headed by the Commissioner Oyunchimeg Purev departed for Huvsgul province on 5 May 2014.

In order to support civil society in protecting human rights the NHRCM signed a memorandum of understanding with the Caritas Czech NGO this year, and within the range of this memorandum it is working to provide prison staff and prisoners in the centralized prisons with human rights education and wareness through human rights training sessions and handbooks.

NHRCM and the Office of the President of Mongolia co-organised an open discussion on the draft law on human rights on 9 April 2014. At the beginning of the discussion Commissioner Oyunchimeg Purev presented the draft law on the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia.
