The Mongolian National Human Rights Commission in cooperation with the "Universal Rights-Development” NGO conducted an international symposium "Freedom of speech: Historical importance and current state” on 15 June 2018 in Ulaanbaatar. The event was supported by the Mongolian Bar Association and the Globe International, NGO.
The conference addressed importance of human right to freely expressing one’s views and opinion, as regarded as an innate right of a human being and this right is superior than any political and special interest. The international scientists, presenters and professionals shared their views and discussed current situation of Mongolia and international practices, challenges and ways to tackle the persisting and emerging issues in the country.
Individual rights to free speech and expression of one’s views and presence of independent media allow stronger democratization that further enables positive social structure. We have an opportunity to wisely define roles and participation of citizens, benefits of free speech and inherit the right to our next generation.
